William W. (Bill) Westberg’s professional experience spans various roles in operational management, management consulting, venture capital and investment banking and accounts for over 30 years of serving customers, leading teams and completing transactions. He has served as Principal of Renaissance Partners providing investment banking advisory services and related consulting since 2010.
His early career includes positions at General Mills Corporation, where he was selected for its management training program, directed to its specialty retail division and immersed in the company’s full business process scope from product development through to manufacturing and to retail sales. Assuming management roles, he led teams to win national awards for individual store sales performance and successfully opened several new locations.
Upon completion of his graduate studies, Bill served and is recognized as a major contributor to the management, formation and success of several regional and state-wide affinity trade group service operations developed to serve the high technology industry sector. Mr. Westberg also served as the co-founder of their affiliated professional services firms providing employee benefits, insurance, human resource consulting and publishing. In serving as key management and ERISA trustee of related statewide employee benefits and services operation, he was instrumental in completing its acquisition by W.F. Morneau & Associates. Mr. Westberg also served as a co-creator of an ancillary business advisory services firm providing advanced manufacturing training & consulting and specialty financing programs to regional manufacturers.
Mr. Westberg was recruited to serve as president and CEO of an early stage biotechnology and medical-focused venture capital investment group placing investments and managing portfolio companies; he also extended the industry’s recognition, policy making, market reach and resources internationally. Following his venture capital role he co-founded two technology start –up companies serving as director and responsible for finance and administration functions of rapid growth enterprises capitalized by venture capital investments.
Joining Navint Consulting (KPMG spinoff), he served as senior consultant including responsibilities in areas of expertise of project management, finance & accounting, and sales & marketing processes. Client deliverables included enterprise level systems integration, process transformation, and financial compliance (SOX) to public, private, and not for profit companies, internationally.
Earning his M.B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business and a B.A. degree from the University of Colorado, he has continued his executive studies at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business. Pittsburgh-based; and proud father of two.
